High quality compressor maps are the key to precise gas turbine performance simulation. Such maps can be created with the program Smooth C, based on measured or calculated data.
Using the program Smooth C requires basic knowledge about compressor theory. If you are unsure about using the program correctly, we can create compressor map tables for you.
In the fan map example below are the data given as a picture for the speed range from 65% to 110%. Checking the data with Smooth C makes it obvious that the lowest speed value in the map must be for 60% speed (instead of 65% as shown in the picture). Version 9 of Smooth C (not yet publicly available) makes it easy to extend the map down to very low speed values and to pressure ratios less than 1. The extended map is suited for engine starting and windmilling simulations.
